Best Front Garden Transformation, May 5, 2012, APLD/Connecticut chapter
"Together, through design, we can make a difference."
In 2012, Spring Lake Garden Design Inc. participated in a Landscape Design Challenge organized by the Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance, Inc. (NINA), a not-for-profit corporation organized in 2003 to foster the revitalization of Hartford's Asylum Hill neighborhood, and the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, Connecticut chapter (APLD/Connecticut). The challenge was to transform one block of the Asylum Hill Neighborhood of Hartford.
Spring Lake Garden Design won the Best Front Garden Transformation. Judging was by members of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, Connecticut chapter. We particularly appreciated one reaction to the SLGD transformation: “Wow, this is unbelievable! You turned a sadly neglected, nondescript front yard into a little bit of heaven! The owners must be thrilled to be able to enjoy such a perfect piece of paradise! Well done, congratulations! You even put in the black wrought iron fence - love it!”
We were honored to participate in such an important program.
